Welcome to Kids Pod, a podcast where kids get to ask adults the questions they really want to know. Nothing is too rude to ask. You send in the questions and our adults will give kids the answers they want to hear.
Helen Waudby and David Hunter are Threatened Species Officers with the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment. Through the Saving our Species program, their job is to help protect and conserve some of our native plants and animals that are at risk of going extinct. Some of the threatened species we have around Albury Wodonga include the Sloane’s Froglet (which is a tiny little frog about the size of an adult's thumbnail) and the Squirrel Glider which is a possum with special wings like membranes that help it glide. Helen and David are working hard to ensure these animals are still around for future generations.
*Hey Kids! Get mum and dad to check out the Albury Wodonga Sustainable Living Festival on Facebook. This online event runs from 9 to 15 November and is a great opportunity to learn about how you and your family can introduce simple changes into your house to help protect the planet. You could even save money at the same time! This year’s festival involves a wide range of topics including native gardening, eating local food, citizen science programs, special children’s story times, the Go Wild Children’s Art Exhibition and Native Wildflowers Walks. You can find out more at alburywodonga.gov.au/slf.*
